OPAL is an outdoor dual-mode motion detector using PIR and microwave technologies, designed to protect objects in harsh environments. The device provides stable operation over a wide temperature range, high resistance to false alarms and splash-proof housing with IP54 rating.

Application of OPAL detector

OPAL is designed for use outside protected buildings and in interiors with difficult or specific environmental conditions, such as halls or sheds. Dual detection technology combined with an auto-adaptation algorithm provides high resistance to false alarms, including in conditions of rain, snow, fog, strong wind or intense sunlight.

The detector provides protection for the area under the device, so that attempts to approach under the detector to damage or break it are detected. The OPAL series software has been prepared so that the movement of small pets (up to 20 kg) does not trigger alarms, which increases the comfort of expLoatation in residential environments.

Design, installation and accessories

The OPAL housing is made using two-component injection molding technology, made of polycarbonate with high mechanical resistance and UV resistance. The IP54-rated splash-proof design protects the electronics from adverse weather conditions. The detector is available in two color versions: white (OPAL) and gray (OPAL GY).

By default, mounting directly on a flat surface is possible, and if the detector needs to be tilted vertically or horizontally, dedicated brackets from the BRACKET C sets are used (45° angle bracket and ball bracket with a range of up to 60° vertically and up to 90° horizontally), as well as BRACKET E distance brackets that allow the detector to be moved away from the wall by up to several centimeters. There are also HOOD C (white) and HOOD C GY (gray) protective canopies, which further protect the device from precipitation and dirt.

Safety features and environmental resistance

OPAL offers tamper protection against opening and detachment, as well as alarm, tamper and anti-mask outputs implemented via relays. Digital temperature compensation ensures correct operation of the detector in the full temperature range from -40°C to +55°C, and the maximum operating humidity reaches 93±3%. The detector meets the requirements of EN50131-1, EN50131-2-4, EN50130-4 and EN50130-5, achieving Grade 2 protection and environmental class IIIa.
