Product description
Grundfos' ALPHA2 high-efficiency circulation pumps are designed for circulating liquids in heating systems. The stainless steel version, designed for domestic hot water systems among others, provides significant energy savings thanks to an EEI coefficient well below the ErP standard
Thanks to the AUTOADAPT function, the pump constantly adjusts its output to the current heating demand - taking into account the size of the system and changing heating needs throughout the year. This function finds the optimal setting for high comfort with minimal energy consumption, making system start-up and setup fast, safe and easy. ALPHA2 offers proportional-pressure, constant-pressure and fixed-curve control modes
An automatic night setback function allows the pump to switch between normal operation and night mode, depending on the flow temperature controlled by the heating device. In summer (manual) mode, the pump does not run, but starts automatically at low speed to prevent impeller blockage and sticking of valves and check valves
Control modes and functions are selected using buttons on the display. LED indicators provide information on operating status, current power consumption (in watts) or flow rate (in m³/h), and display warnings and alarms
In addition, the ALPHA2 is compatible with ALPHA Reader and the Grundfos GO Balance app, allowing installers to easily perform hydronic balancing of floor and radiator heating systems
Design and technical features
The design of the pump and the materials used contribute to the long life of the unit. The pump is self-venting for easy start-up, and the compact design with the pump head integrated into the control box makes it a perfect fit for most standard installations. The pump and motor form an integral unit, with no shaft seal, and the bearings are lubricated by the pumped liquid, ensuring maintenance-free operation
Active dry running protection prevents the pump from starting without liquid during start-up and normal operation. In case of impeller blockage, the device continuously attempts to restart with maximum torque
The pump housings, made of cast iron, are electrolytically coated for improved corrosion resistance, while the motor - a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a compact stator - is characterized by high efficiency. The pump speed is controlled by an integrated inverter located in the control box
Insulating covers are provided for the pumps to minimize heat loss in heating systems
Protection against dry running
The dry-run protection function actively protects the pump from starting without liquid flow during start-up and normal operation. If the impeller becomes blocked, the pump continuously attempts to restart using maximum torque
